JANUARY BOARD RECAP During January, the District Board met in Springfield, IL where our next year's board was introduced to what Key Club is all about at the district level! We prepared for DCLC, discussed goals for the next year, reflected on this year, and had fun at Sky Zone! INVOLVEMENT in 2023 & 2024, Our I-I District was ranked #1, donating to unicef's trick or treat more than any other key club district. In 2024, I-I Key Clubs raised almost $7,000 for the Trick or Treat for UNICEF fundraising campaign, supporting the WASH project. Key Clubbers around their communities helped spread awarnress regarding UNICEF's mission and goals

Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation Our goal this year is simple: To Support Babies Born with Spine Conditions for Brighter, Healthier Lives. What is KNRF? The Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation is known as the Illinois - Eastern Iowa District’s finest project, since its founding in 1952, the Kiwanis Family (including Key Club, Circe K and Kiwanis) has been providing 9 world renowned doctors and scientists to research how to treat/enhance the quality of life of children afflicted with neurological diseases. Our funds have in the past supported the discovery of a new field of cancer, prevention/treatment of spinal disorders such as spina bifida, and more. Why? This breakthrough research our Key Club has funded has allowed for the empowerment of children afflicted with brain and spinal disorders to live happier and healthier lives, giving them and their families new hope for a brighter future free from limitations. Learn More Key Club Roles Our researchers are funded only by the Illinois–Eastern Iowa Kiwanis Family, and the Key Club plays a vital role in that support. This year’s District-Wide Mrs. Fields Cookie Fundraiser will help Dr. Bowman train doctors nationwide in groundbreaking surgery. Look out for more information from your Lieutenant Governor soon! Please consider hosting your own fundraiser and encourage friends and encourage club members to participate in the district wide fundraiser! I-I DISTRICT KNRF MATCH Every dollar given will be matched dollar for dollar by I-I District KNRF 75th Year Anniversary! DIAMOND JUBILEE 2025 District Project Dr. Robin Bowman, one of our researchers/doctors at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, is one of the few specialists nationwide who has developed a groundbreaking procedure to address spinal development abnormalities that result in spina bifida. Spina bifida is a birth defect where the spine and spinal cord don't form properly during early development. This condition can significantly impact an individual's mobility, often requiring the use of wheelchairs, crutches, or other assistive devices. Additionally, it can lead to nerve damage, resulting in long-term bowel and bladder issues. Despite its success, this complex procedure is not widely taught, limiting its availability. To address this, Dr. Bowman has created a simulation tool designed to train surgeons in this life-changing technique. However, to make this tool accessible to medical professionals across the country, Dr. Bowman needs support. The Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club has the opportunity to play a pivotal role in this mission. As our 2025 District Project we plan to assist in the implementation of this simulation tool, so we can help Dr. Bowman train more doctors, ultimately improving the lives of countless children and their families affected by spina bifida. JUNE BOARD 2022-23 Happy Birthday to our District Administrator, Paul Palazzolo!

JUNE BOARD 2025-26 The 2025-2026 service year officially began at our June Board Meeting in Bloomington, Illinois! Board members from all across the district came together for a weekend of leadership, learning, and bonding. This meeting wasn't just the start of our term, it was the start of a team. The June Board Meeting was a chance for all district board members to connect, collaborate, and dive into our responsibilities for the year ahead. We introduced ourselves, met with committees, and reviewed expectations for our roles. From setting divisional goals to learning parliamentary procedure and reviewing how to tackle common issues, the day was filled with meaningful discussions and practical takeaways that left everyone more prepared to serve their divisions. After a full day of planning and learning, the board let loose at Grady's Family Fun Park—a mini amusement park in Bloomington. With go-karts, bumper cars, and fait rides, it was the perfect way to celebrate our hard work and grow closer as a board!!

AUGUST BOARD 2025-26 During August, the District Board met in the Quad Cities to discuss goals for the year and prepare for a strong start to the school season. We covered updates from each position, discussed the upcoming Fall Leadership Rallies, implemented our new Membership Engagement Task Force, met with committees, and much more. A major focus was on our communication as we start up the new school year. We also had the privilege of attending a Kiwanis family mixer at the Kiwanis State Convention, where we strengthened our K-Family bonds. After a long but rewarding weekend of planning, we all gathered at the Blue Grass Drive-In to watch The Fantastic Four and connect with our fellow board members. January BOARD 2025-26 During January, the District Board met in Springfield, IL where our next year's board was introduced to what Key Club is all about at the district level! We prepared for DCLC, discussed goals for the next year, reflected on this year, and had to chance to go to Sky Zone! Additionally, our board introduced new initiatives such as Multilingual Resources, a Mobile Application, and the President's Passion Project. A major focus was discussing how we could end the year off strong. This meant questioning our goals for DCLC, plans on outreach, what we could do for our next year's board, and how we could continue to stay motivated. Here's our board meeting room at the Crowne Plaza
